Energy efficient homes 'could use cheap double glazing'Double glazing could help people achieve energy efficient homes.Property owners who want to follow in the footsteps of one man who has created an energy efficient home in Birmingham could take advantage of cheap double glazing.

According to the Times, the home of architect John Christophers, situated in Balsall Heath in the suburbs of the city, no longer needs a heating system due to measures taken to ensure all heat is trapped.

Although Mr Christophers paid £300,000 for a complete revamp of his Victorian home, those looking to reduce their energy bills could pick up some cheap double glazing by taking part in government schemes.

"The Energy Security and Green Economy Bill is due to be introduced in the autumn. The 'green deal' will make homeowners eligible for grants of up to £6,500 for improvements to energy efficiency," the newspaper suggested.

Planet South Lakes recently stated that cheap double glazing is one area where people can make a difference to the environment, adding that it is the responsibility of us all to help save the planet.
