Energy efficient homes do not have to lose their natural charms.Property owners can make energy-efficient changes to their home, including installing double-glazed windows, without losing the original charm of their abode.Chris Handel, who is opening up his Twenties home in the South Downs next month to illustrate how people can make changes to their property, told the Daily Telegraph that the most common comment people make when they visit him is that 'it is just like a normal house'."When people think 'eco home' they seem to expect some modern timber pod, or a hobbit house. Our house is nearly 100 years old and looks no different from many others in the area,” said Chris, a commercial property director.Mr Handel went on to say that the best thing he did was to install insulation at a cost of around £1,000 and a wood burner costing £3,000.Recently, George Clarke, presenter of Channel 4's The Restoration Man, said that every house in the country ought to feature double-glazed windows.Posted by Tim Lloyd
