'Driest six months' could boost home improvement fans

'Driest six months' could boost home improvement fansThe UK is currently enjoying the driest first six months of a year since 1929.People wanting to carry out home improvement projects, such as installing cheap double glazing, are being boosted by the driest start to a year since 1929.

The Met Office reported that as July begins, Britain has seen the second driest first six months to the year in 100 years.

It said that the rain-free conditions have been caused by a lack of Atlantic weather systems, which usually bring precipitation to the UK, especially in western areas.

Barrie Clarke, communications director at Water UK, said: "These figures paint a graphic picture of why reservoir levels in the west are so low by comparison with normal years. During such a dry spell it makes sense to use water wisely wherever you live."

The dry weather over recent bank holidays has encouraged many people to tackle DIY problems around the house, while others could choose to be inspired by the sunshine and decorate their bedrooms or bathrooms in summery themes.
