The Chester Chronicle reports that the property, located at 78 Dyserth Road, Blacon, is open to the public and features practical tips for anyone looking to save energy in their home.

Community organisation Sustainable Blacon established the project and aims to demonstrate that double glazing can save £40 annually on bills. Other money saving investments that are demonstrated in the property include loft insulation, which could save £150 each year, and draft proofing, which could see a £25 reduction in heating costs.

Ged Edwards, chief executive of Sustainable Blacon, told the newspaper: "With the average household energy bill expected to be £5,000 in ten years' time, we all need to act to save money and reduce our impact on the environment."

The Energy Savings Trust suggests that effective double glazing quotes could save anything up to £130 per year, as well as reducing noise and condensation.

Yesterday, the Scottish government announced that the Home Insulation Service, which provides discounted insulation for Scottish homes, would return this year in a bid to improve energy efficiency in the country.
