New scheme could see cash prizes for homeowners updating double glazing and insulation.Energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne has announced important news for those in the market for double glazing quotes.Mr Huhne has told energy providers that they can offer incentives, including cash prizes and holidays abroad, to encourage homeowners to install double glazing and insulation."We will legislate to allow the energy companies to incentivise owner/occupiers, so if they want to offer the chance of a cruise for two to the Norwegian fjords that's something they can do," Mr Huhne said.According to current statistics, around 20 per cent of a building's heat is lost through drafts in windows and doors. There are around 16 million homes in Britain that are not up to current energy efficiency or insulation standards. The scheme is supposed to encourage those homeowners to pay for the initial up-front costs of their insulation and double glazing quotes to bring them up to standard.
