The Communities Gateway Association has reported that double glazing helped it boost its eco-credentials in 2009.Installing double glazing across its numerous properties helped the Community Gateway Association (CGA) boost its environmental credentials over the past few months, it has been reported.Over the past couple of years, the association has been working tirelessly to improve its eco-credentials, both from the top-down and also by encouraging its staff to make simple yet effective green gestures. For example, workers have been asked to come up with alternative means of travelling to work other than by car, while its fleet of vehicles has been made more fuel efficient. However, one of the most cost-effective methods it has adopted has been the installation of insulation and double glazing across its properties, with this having allowed it to both cut back on its overheads, as well as to reduce its carbon footprint. On the back of this, the CGA has now announced that it has been credited with saving 314 mature trees from destruction through its paper recycling initiative of 2009, while it has also revealed that it is on track to successfully work with developers to construct a pair of new homes to Sustainable Code Level 4 before the end of the year. Meanwhile, the East Lothian Courier has reported that local planning bosses have given the green light to plans to build 100 new homes in the area, all of which will boast energy-efficient measures such as double glazing and properly-insulated walls.
