Mr Goddard said that insulating your house is "by far the most effective way" of reducing your impact on the environment.

He also suggested adding rainwater collection from the roof and using it for the washing machine and flushing the toilet.

"Things like that are really good ways of cutting down the environmental impact of your home," said Mr Goddard.
