Cheap UPVC windows help to keep burglars out but homeowners should always have good-value home insurance, should the worst happen, according to Nationwide. This week is National Home Security Week and homeowners with cheap UPVC windows are one step closer to keeping their homes secure from burglars, however, they should still ensure they have a good-value home insurance policy, according to Nationwide.John Baker, Nationwide's head of general insurance, said: "When customers approach their insurance renewal dates, it's important they make sure they get a good deal on a policy as well as one that has all the features they are looking for."He said that customers should aim to get value for money when they take out a home insurance policy, no matter what level of cover they require.According to the Home Office, most burglaries are carried out by opportunist thieves and in two out of ten burglaries, they do not even have to use force - gaining entry through an open door or window. It recommends fitting strong locks to your doors and windows, such as those found in double glazed windows, and making sure they are always kept fully locked.Written by Liam Cass.
