Double glazing has boosted the eco-friendliness of East Sussex properties Double glazing is just one of the features of a new eco-friendly development in the south of England.An innovative housing development in East Sussex boasts high-quality double glazing as one of its many energy-saving and eco-friendly features.

Selected homes within the Bluebell View development in the village of North Chailey also use a new reed-bed system to reduce the need for artificial water treatment, PropertyTalkLive.co.uk reports.

The system organically filters waste water from kitchens and bathrooms of the four and five-bedroom properties and it is then returned into the natural water system.

Marie-Claire Travis, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey South West Thames, said: "Sustainability is a crucial part of developing modern communities and, whenever we can, we try to incorporate environmentally-friendly innovations which take our developments beyond the standards required by today's building regulations."

As well as the water filtering system and the double glazing windows, the development's properties have energy-efficient insulation.

The Energy Saving Trust recommends double glazing and insulation as two ways of reducing heat loss and, therefore, heating bills and CO2 emissions.

Double glazing , can cut utility bills by £135 per year, according to the trust.
