Double glazing: Beat the big freeze

double glazing helps to keep the cold out and the heat inAs freezing winter weather refuses to loosen its grip on the British Isles, homeowners are being advised of home improvements they can make to ensure they stay warm, such as installing double glazing.Homeowners should install double glazing to protect themselves from the current cold weather and to reduce their carbon footprint.

In an article for the South Wales Echo, which lists some of the changes that homeowners can make to ensure that they do not feel cold in their homes, double glazing is hailed as a home improvement that can dramatically reduce heat loss.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing double glazing can cut heat loss through windows by 50 per cent and, therefore, can cut heating bills by around £135 a month.

By installing double glazing windows a household is also doing their bit to reduce the UK's carbon footprint, as they cut emissions by around 720kg a year.

The newspaper also recommended a little-known way of keeping warm - quitting smoking. It said that blood circulation can be improved as soon as two weeks after giving up the habit.
