Double-glazed windows backed for Scottish listed sites

Double-glazed windows backed for Scottish listed sitesThe benefits of double-glazed windows are there for all to see.Property owners in Scotland have been told of the benefits of installing double-glazed windows after plans were unveiled to allow some listed buildings to finally have the home improvement included in their abodes.

Jenny Dawe, Edinburgh Council leader, was speaking to the Scotsman after approvals were made to let A and B-listed buildings have double glazing installed.

It means that a new slim-cavity window can be included in the buildings, as long as they do not have original or crown windows in place.

"This is an excellent example of the commitment of the council and our partners to ensuring that we reduce CO2 emissions whilst protecting the special character of our historic buildings," she stated.

Her words came after George Clarke, presenter of Channel 4's The Home Show and The Restoration Man, said that double glazing was an excellent way to make eco-friendly changes to a property, as it allows people to make energy savings.
