Phil Spencer, presenter of Channel 4's Location Location Location, told the Daily Telegraph that less people are moving at the moment due to the state of the property market.

He said that, instead, people should make changes that will increase their enjoyment of the homes they currently live in.

In the TV star's new book, entitled Adding Value to Your Home, he asserts: "There is no point improving your home just before you sell. You might as well do the work straightaway if you can and get the benefit out of it yourself."

For those who are selling their homes, national estate agency Strutt & Parker advised them, through the Daily Telegraph in January, to clean their cheap double glazing windows as these will be one of the first things that prospective buyers will see when they come to view the property.
