'Don't be afraid' to use mood lighting in bathroom quotesMood lighting has a wide range of applications, although it is still not used regularly in residential bathroom quotes, an expert has said.Homeowners should not be afraid to explore the options for mood lighting in their bathroom quotes, an expert has suggested.

LED lights, particularly, have a wide range of applications and could open up "a whole new world" of design alternatives to homeowners, Eva Hammerson, head of design at lighting specialist Kandabi, said.

She explained that although mood lighting is thought of only having applications in very modern interior styling, it can be used effectively in a range of settings.

Ms Hammerson commented: "Most residential interior designers, unless working on very contemporary projects, are still perhaps a bit reluctant to fully embrace mood lighting and to incorporate LEDs into a period property lighting scheme."

According to IMM Cologne's Interior Trends 2011 report, the four key trends for home styling this year are "emotional austerity", "surprising empathy", "re-balancing" and "transforming perspectives".

It added that consumers want designers to push boundaries, rather than re-imagine existing concepts.
