Customers 'need to research energy efficiency grants'Homeowners could be missing out on government-funded grants to help make their properties more energy efficient, it has been claimed.Customers could be missing out on thousands of pounds of government-funded initiatives, according to online resource Home Heating Guide.

The firm has found that homeowners across the UK are not applying for grants which could help them make their homes more energy efficient by funding measures such as double glazing, loft and cavity wall insulation and new boilers.

By taking advantage of the grants, homeowners can lower their fuel bills, with measures such as loft and wall insulation knocking up to £235 off energy bills a year.

David Holmes of Home Heating Guide said that many homeowners are unaware that grants are available to many people and not just reserved for a small sector of society, while partial grants are available for those that do not qualify for the full sum.

A recent article in the Independent highlighted that fitting double glazing and insulation are "by far the best things you can do", to improve the green credentials of a property.
