Council issues double glazing grant

Scarborough Council has given a local village hall a grant for double glazing A £1,500 grant is being awarded to a village hall in Scarborough that needs new double glazing.Old windows at a village hall in Scarborough are to be replaced with double glazing thanks to a grant from the local council.

According to the Filey Mercury, £1,500 has been awarded to Muston village hall so improvements can be made to the windows, as well as to security measures at the community site.

The council was originally hoping to fund the replacement of the building, but financial difficulties have prevented it from going ahead with the plan.

Godfrey Allanson, chairman of the parish council, said the installation of heating and double glazing will make "a real difference".

He added that the hall's committee may make further applications for funding in the future.

The Federation of Small Businesses recently claimed that a cut in the level of VAT charged on renovation work could help the government to meet its carbon reduction targets.
