Conservatory sales to rise?

Government regulations may boost sales of conservatories in the short-term, it is claimed The number of conservatories sold in the UK could rise in the short-term before new plans make the construction of them more expensive, it has been suggested.An expert has suggested that those considering a conservatory quote should move quickly.

Matthew Glover, managing director of UPVC products manufacturer Conservatory Outlet, has claimed that proposed new government regulations could see the cost of constructing the structures rise by up to £2,000 in the next couple of years.

The draft guidelines would see the introduction of tough new energy efficiency guidelines that conservatories and other parts of properties will have to meet, including restrictions on flooring and wall materials.

Mr Glover said: "The requirement to upgrade other parts of the home at the same time will undoubtedly add to the cost of the project."

Because of this, he urged consumers to think about getting an extension or conservatory sooner rather than later.

Conservatory Outlet, which has outlets across the UK, recently unveiled a new range of sash-style UPVC windows.
