A couple in Hazelgrove built an 11-foot high extension to their property without gaining planning permission after being told by the local council it was not needed.

However, the Times & Star reports that it has now emerged approval was required, so the conservatory could face being demolished.

Talking to the newspaper, local councillor Alan Smith said officials hope to have a look at the building themselves.

He explained: "There is an issue of what is identified as the front of the house and what is identified as the back, and a site visit would give greater clarification."

It was recently revealed that conservatories may need to be made more energy efficient as part of new government plans.ADNFCR-2394-ID-19176493-ADNFCR
