Conservatories 'can add value to any home'

Well-designed conservatory One expert claims the addition of a conservatory will be a popular way to add value onto a property. There is going to be an increase in the amount of homeowners looking to add conservatories onto their properties, according to one expert.

Mathew Glover, managing director of Wakefield-based firm Conservatory Outlet, claims such an extension could add "good quality" value back onto a house, stating the initial cost back onto a property within five years.

He cited recent research from the Halifax Home Improvement Survey, which found the average extension cost is £19,922 and could add over £25,000 to a property's value.

Mr Glover said a "well-designed" conservatory "added on to any kind of house will add value".

Homeowners need to ensure their conservatory is well-designed and the UPVC is tailored to their property, he added.

Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine, recently said that conservatories should be tailored around individual houses and can be the easiest way for people to add space to their properties.
