Coalition govt to boost upvc window suppliers? An expert has predicted that there will be agreement between the Tories and the Lib Dems on elements such as refurbishing the existing housing stock with the likes of cheap double glazing.Upvc window suppliers could be in demand as a result of the new coalition government, which is likely to agree over environmental plans for the country.

This is according to John Alker, head of advocacy at the UK Green Building Council, who said the decision to make Liberal Democrat MP Chris Huhne the energy and climate change secretary is good news for the likes of upvc window suppliers.

One of the Liberal Democrats' manifesto policies was to bring 250,000 empty homes back into use, offering the people who own these properties a grant or cheap loan to renovate them with the likes of cheap double glazing.

Mr Alker suggested that climate change was likely to be one area where the Conservatives and Lib Dems would agree.

"I think they were probably quite glad that they could say, 'Yes, smart grids, yes, refurbishment of the existing housing stock'," he commented.
