Church hall to become warmer with cheap double glazing

St Paul's Church Hall will be warmer once double glazing is installedA church hall in the West Midlands is to become "warmer and more comfortable" thanks to £15,000 of improvement works, including the installation of cheap double glazing.

A church hall in Blackheath, West Midlands, is to have cheap double glazing fitted thanks to a £15,000 cash injection.

The National Lottery's Big Lottery Fund has given St Paul's Church Hall a £10,000 grant and the extra £5,000 was provided by Dudley Council's Halesowen Area Committee, the Halesowen News reports.

As well as seeking double glazing quotes, the owners of the hall also sought quotes for the installation of a new heating system, cavity wall insulation and better lighting, work on which has already started and is expected to be complete over the next fortnight.

"It's fantastic, like a dream really - it will make a huge difference. The facilities will look a lot better and will be warmer and more comfortable for community groups," reverend Michael Sermon told the newspaper.

He went on to say that the cheap double glazing and other features will also encourage even more groups to use the space.

Last month, the National Home Improvement Council said that installing energy efficient features, such as those being fitted in St Paul's Church Hall, is a "big project" but one that is necessary if the UK is to meet its carbon targets.
