It provides advice on the kind of adaptations which can be made to historic buildings to improve their environmental performance without negatively affecting their appearance.

"The thing I like about the trust is that it is making the argument in financial terms," he told the website.

Mr Snow went on to say that installing cheap double glazing and proper draught controls will save people money over the years as they will cut energy bills.

Back in February, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that cheap double glazing and insulation had been fitted in a historic hotel in Australia to reduce its heat loss and, therefore, energy costs.
