An architecture firm has used cheap double glazing has been used in the redevelopment of a grade II* listed building in London.Cheap double glazing has been used in the refurbishment of Trellick Tower in central London.Architecture firm John McAslan and Partners are currently renovating the 31-storey tower for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.The building, which was first completed in 1972 by Erno Goldfinger, is now grade II* listed, according to Building Design.Its building envelope is being repaired and conserved and its key areas, such as the entrance, are being enhanced.All bedrooms and bathrooms are being upgraded while the firm also focused on protecting and improving the tower's historic character."Window replacement has been a key part of the project. New timber, double glazed windows by French firm Bieber are being installed to replace all the windows in the residential areas of the tower," Pauline Nee, head of John McAslan and Partners historic building section, writes in the magazine.Old windows in the communal areas have also been replaced but with new double glazing steel versions, she added.Earlier this month, cheap double glazing helped a family from Scotland win the National Sustainability Award at the prestigious Future Friendly Awards and a £10,000 prize.Posted by Daniel Brown
