Alexander Shand lives near two wind turbines at Michelin's tyre factory in Dundee and told the Courier that noise and flickering sunlight caused by the rotating blades were his biggest problems with the turbines.

He went on to explain that the noise is "very disturbing" and that it seems to be heard more in houses slightly further from the turbines.

"When I walk my dog I am aware that people living further than me from the turbines suffer more," Mr Shand added.

He said that cheap double glazing was successful in filtering out some of the noise but that his wife still suffers from tinnitus and believes this was caused by the wind turbines.

Last month, the Loughborough Echo reported that people living near East Midlands Airport were to receive grants towards installing cheap double glazing, which will help to block out the noise from the nearby aircraft.
