Fiona Macaskill has been named as the NLA Green Property Woman of 2010.A homeowner has been named as the National Landlords' Association's (NLA) Green Property Woman for 2010.Fiona Macaskill, received the award at an NLA ceremony in London for her commitment to the environment and green policies.Ms Macaskill has around 40 properties in and around Bristol which mostly cater for the student community.She has introduced a number of energy-efficient initiatives, including eco boilers, 'A' rated appliances, solar PV panels, cavity wall insulation and double glazing.Tenants are also given recycling and compost bins so that they can do their bit to help the environment."Not only do I try to introduce green fixtures, fittings and policies into my properties, but I try to carry this through to every aspect of my business, from recycling to paperless invoicing and only communicating via email or telephone," she said on receiving the award.Recently, Jeff Howell, a DIY expert writing for the Daily Telegraph, advised that property owners need to get cheap double glazing which conforms to the thermal insulation requirements of the latest Building Regulations.Posted by Tim Lloyd
