As many as seven million homes in the UK are to get eco upgrades, which could include cheap double glazing, under a new government strategy.Britain's homes will be made more energy efficient over the next decade through the installation of features such as cheap double glazing windows, thanks to plans set out by the government yesterday (March 2nd).The Warm Homes, Greener Homes Strategy aims to cut emissions from the UK's homes by 29 per cent before 2020.Under the strategy, as many as seven million British households will benefit from eco upgrades, which could include cheap double glazing.This will not only boost the environmentally-friendly credentials of the UK, but increase its employment levels, as up to 65,000 jobs will be created in the green home industry.Ed Miliband, energy and climate secretary, said: "Making homes more energy efficient will help protect people from upward pressure on bills, tackle climate change and make us less reliant on imported energy."One building that has designs to become greener is Stanley Youth Centre in County Durham, which could soon benefit from cheap double glazing, a wind turbine and solar panels, the Evening Chronicle reported recently.Posted by Sarah Gower
