Malvern Glass had to make all of its workers redundant when it shut down on February 1st, but Mel Stocker has purchased the assets of the company and re-hired up to 12 of the firm's full-time staff members, the Malvern Gazette reports.

Mr Stocker started the business in 1979 but was forced to sell its assets three years ago due to ill health.

When he heard that it had closed he decided to give it another go and has now re-opened the Spring Lane North showroom and factory.

Andrew Green, managing director of Greenway Home Improvements recently wrote in a piece for the website Guide2Bristol.com that homeowners should consider installing cheap double glazing as, aside from its obvious energy-saving benefits, it also reduces the amount of condensation in a property and can cut noise pollution.
