Cheap double glazing 'becoming more important for property choice'More people are looking for an energy-efficient home.Those looking for a new home to invest in are placing increasing importance on its energy efficiency, according to new research.

A study by Pilkington found that 76 per cent of homebuyers believe that energy efficiency, which can be aided through cheap double glazing, is a key consideration when deciding whether to splash out on a property.

However, only 27 per cent said that they would know how to judge a home's energy efficiency.

Julia Berkin, a spokesperson for Pilkington, told GreenBuildNews.co.uk: "It’s reassuring that energy efficiency is creeping up the wish-list of key considerations for house buyers, particularly as simple steps like turning down your thermostat and fitting energy-saving light bulbs, can really make a difference to energy bills."

She added that the firm's energiKare cheap double glazing can reduce heat loss by up to 90 per cent, compared to single-glazed windows.

It comes after Vernon Pethard, founder of Newhomesforsale.co.uk, said that everyone is now becoming more conscious of environmental issues.
