Centre for disabled children to get double glazing

Tiny Tim's Children's Centre is soon to benefit from double glazing windowsStaff at a hotel in Coventry have raised money for a children's charity so that it can install double glazing.A centre for disabled children is to get new double glazing thanks to money raised by staff at a Coventry hotel.

Employees at the Hilton Hotel raised £8,000 for Tiny Tim's Children's Centre in Whitefriars Lane, which provides treatment for children and babies with disabilities and special needs, the Coventry Telegraph reports.

As well as new double glazing, the centre is putting the money towards installing a new reception desk and wheelchair ramp.

Speaking to the newspaper, Sarah Hemings, manager of the centre, said: "It will really help towards our plans to improve our buildings access, which will help us to offer more free treatments for children with disabilities and special needs."

The hotel staff raised the cash through holding raffles, balls and sponsored challenges.

John Dixon, general manager at the Hilton, said that the centre makes a big difference to many children's lives in the city and that it was fully deserving of the funding.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing double glazing cuts heat loss through windows by half, and can reduce energy bills by around £135 a year.
