The government needs to do more to get homes to install double glazingMore needs to be done to get homeowners to install energy efficient features, such as cheap double glazing, the Confederation of British Industry has suggested.A new government strategy, which could encourage homeowners to install cheap double glazing, could be highly successful if set up in the correct way, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has suggested.

The Warm Homes, Greener Homes strategy aims to cut out 29 per cent of emissions from UK homes by 2020.

Dr Neil Bentley, director of business environment at CBI, said: "Getting this right will make a big impact in our greenhouse gas emissions and save consumers money."

He went on to say that, to ensure all homes are properly insulated within the next five years, more needs to be done to get people on board.

Mr Bentley suggested helping people overcome the upfront costs, such as the price of installing cheap double glazing, by "rolling out pay-as-you-save schemes".

Earlier this week, Ed Miliband, energy and climate secretary, said that the new green strategy will create up to 65,000 jobs.
