The government should support homeowners and businesses in making their properties more energy-efficient by encouraging improvements, which could include double glazing windows.The government is being called upon to increase its efforts in encouraging people to install insulation, such as double glazing, in their homes and the workplaces to increase energy efficiency.World leaders failed to agree on a legally binding climate change treaty this month in Copenhagen so it is more important than ever for the UK government to devise and enforce its own policies, according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).Richard Lambert, CBI director-general said: "With £15 million a day being wasted on energy by businesses and households every day, we need easy-to-access support and incentives to encourage improved insulation in homes and offices, a switch to more fuel-efficient cars, and other energy savings steps."Earlier this week, the Federation of Master Builders welcomed recent proposals by the Conservative party, which said that UK homes would receive grants to make energy-saving improvements, such as double glazing, if the party is elected.Posted by Liam Cass.
