Cambridgeshire residents given home security help

Residents in Cambridgeshire have been given home security adviceElderly residents in Cambridgeshire have been given advice on home security by local police officers.Police in Cambridgeshire are helping elderly people in the region with home security issues, it has been revealed.

The local constabulary has teamed up with Linton Parish Council to create The Bobby Scheme, which employs security advisors to give homeowners advice on locks, bolts and door chains.

According to the Saffron Walden Reporter, the village is at a high risk of burglaries due to its location near main roads such as the M11.

Councillor Roger Hickford, police liaison officer for the council, told the newspaper that all pensioners were encouraged to get involved.

He added that advisers "do not aim to turn a home into a fortress but they will provide practical help, reassurance and peace of mind".

Recent research by Moneysupermarket.com highlighted Nottingham and London as the areas most at risk of burglary in the UK.
