Greater Manchester Police are touring a special home security scheme around the area during August.The police are set to target Greater Manchester with a new scheme to prompt people to take their home security into consideration.A special Burglary Battle Bus is set to tour around the area and educate residents about crime reduction, as official police figures show one in three burglaries are "taking advantage of insecure properties", reports the Trafford Messenger.The bus will be based at shopping centres, community events and other busy locations throughout Greater Manchester during August and free burglary information packs will be handed out.Janette McCormick, chief superintendent for the Trafford Division for greater Manchester Police, told the newspaper: "We want the battle bus send out a clear message to those committing burglaries across Trafford that their actions will not be tolerated and we will be doing everything in our power to bring them to justice."A special operation by the force targeting burglars in the Greater Manchester area between July 20th and 24th resulted in 140 arrests being made.The Operation Storm crackdown is set to continue to tackle the problem throughout the rest of this year and into 2010.
