A new study has found that a quarter of property owners in the UK are set to invest in home improvement during this year.Brits are planning to invest in large-scale home improvements in 2009, according to a new report.Research by Unbiased.co.uk found that 25 per cent of property owners are set to splash out on home improvements this year.Some 66 per cent of respondents said they wish to make their home "look and feel" as they wish, while 15 per cent want to create more space for their family.The study also found that eight per cent of people are looking to add value to their property with a number of home improvements.Richard Winder, spokesperson for Unbiased.co.uk, said consumers may be "put off buying or selling a property" due to the current housing market.He added: "Many are turning their attention to the house they're in and planning substantial home improvements this year, which could potentially add both monetary and aesthetic value to a property."The Property Care Association recently said the creation of new basement space was growing in popularity as one home improvement tactic used by property owners in the UK.
