Bristol school gets double glazing to cut energy bills

Double glazing helps to conserve energy and reduce household billsIn order to reduce energy bills and eliminate drafts a school in Bristol has installed double glazed windows.Double glazing has been installed in a primary school in Bristol to cut energy bills.

Wick Primary School in Bristol underwent an £115,000 refurbishment thanks to funding from South Gloucestershire Council.

New ceilings were also added to the school as well as double glazing to ensure the building is better insulated.

Cllr Sandra Grant, a governor at the school, said: "The double glazed windows and new ceilings should hopefully eliminate drafts and cut energy bills at the same time."

The school kitchen was also refurbished and new data points were fitted in all of the classrooms.

According to energysavingsecrets.co.uk, double glazing is one of the key ways to save energy.

The website said around half of the heat used to keep your home warm is lost through the walls, windows or loft, and this could be cut significantly by installing double glazed windows as they add a second layer of protection to prevent heat loss.
