Bathroom work 'can add 20% to a property's value'

People who are looking to request bathroom quotes will be interested to hear that a study by Nationwide found that such renovations can add up to 20 per cent to a property's value.

It was also revealed that a ten per cent increase in floor space anywhere in a home can lead to a rise of five per cent in the price of a home.

Martin Gahbauer, chief economist at Nationwide, said: "In a buyer's market homeowners are keen to know which characteristics are likely to make their home relatively more attractive and which ones may detract from the price.

"Over time, buyers' expectations have changed and overall the general quality of property in terms of amenities is improving."
