Bathroom quotes: Rush on DIY products expected before VAT riseHomeowners who are seeking bathroom quotes are expected to hit the stores to make big DIY purchases before the VAT rise comes into effect.An expert has predicted that DIY enthusiasts, including those looking for bathroom quotes, will make any large purchases prior to the forthcoming VAT rise.

Anna-Marie DeSouza, from Build It magazine, said that she expected there to be a large number of savvy home improvement enthusiasts heading for the stores before the new rate of 20 per cent VAT comes into effect on January 4th 2011.

She explained: "I am absolutely certain that before the end of the year, there will be a rush from consumers investing in the more expensive items for their homes to save themselves money on VAT. I think this will be for all retail genres, not just DIY stores."

Ms DeSouza added that people searching for new bathroom quotes and kitchen quotes would be "wise" to make their purchases in the next two weeks, but must be realistic about what work they can complete themselves.

Recently, DIY retailers Wickes announced that like-for-like turnover per day had increased by 4.2 per cent in the eight weeks up to November 27th 2010.
