Aga Rangemaster said that it welcomed the results, but warned that its markets were still facing a difficult and uncertain future.

Aga volumes rose during the traditional autumn key selling period, however, the five per cent increase was offset by a decline in sales of the company's all-in-one cooker-boiler brands, Rayburn and Stanley.

Chief executive William McGrath said: "Recent research ... shows range cookers are on trend and aspirational and for many move the heart of the home ... to the kitchen. As we are focused on range cookers and kitchen living these trend lines provide confidence in our prospects."
